Back to School Therapy Plans

Ahhh.. Another school year is starting. I always start my year with a Back to School Theme. We work on school vocabulary, social skills, etc. Here are some of the things we will be doing!

.) I think it is super important to get to know your students. I want them to feel like I care about them and their interests - because I do! So we start with these Get to Know You Sheets!

.) We will also complete these Back to School No Prep Language Worksheets. They are no prep worksheets that target language, vocab, concepts, grammar, etc. They are great for gathering baseline data! I also found this FREE Back to School Coloring Book from Krista Wallden.

.) This Fill Your Backpack activity is great for building school-related vocabulary, but now I can't seem for find it on TpT anymore! :( I also love the Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School book for my younger kids. This book is great for talking about those emotions we feel early in the school year. It is also a great way to introduce that some things will be "hard" for your students - and that's okay because they are still learning how to do them! The Back to School Mini book is part of this pack of push in language activities for Preschool for the ENTIRE YEAR! This will save you TONS of prep!

.) I will also use There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books. I paired it with this Roll and Cover Game. There are also tons of great book companions on Teachers Pay Teachers.

.) I like to use this Back To School No Prep Articulation Packet. It's packed with TONS of games that are great for gathering baseline data. Plus all you have to do is print! You can find it here. The apple articulation cards are from Let's Talk Speech, but I can't find them online anywhere now. I've had them forever.

.) I also use some interactive books. The Let's Play interactive book is from Speech Room News and you can find it here.  It's Free!! I made the interactive book on the right for my Pre-K kiddos. It was easy to make and it helps them learn about the routine of school and the toys/rules using pictures that are of their actual school. It does take a bit of prep work, but I use it year after year! The other pictures show how the inside of that book is set up.

.) I also use the Toca School App quite a bit during this unit. I used Boardmaker to create some symbols for my AAC users.

.) I also use the Social Skill Builders App for my students working on pragmatic goals. We use this section of the app during our back to school unit.

.) I'll also use these Freebie Story Starters to work on conversational skills and to gather speech and language data at the conversational level.
